Fish, Dinosaurs, and (no) Cows

Now that the weather finally resembles summer MOST of the time, the water babies have emerged. Between the sprinkling slip'n'slide, water guns, and buckets of water goin' on in our backyard, both the kids and the grass are growing from all the water!

"Hmmm...what can I do with this towel?"

"Lay out, of course!" She spread the towel out and laid down on it all by herself.


A couple of weeks ago we made a trip to Brookfield Zoo. The animals were...well...animals - but the dinosaurs were pretty cool. We kept telling Maura that they looked hungry and might eat her...she's just too smart - she told us, "No, Mom. They're fake. They have buttons." Funny girl. She'd realized that because you had to push buttons to make the dinosaurs roar and move, they must not be real.

In between the swimming and trips to the zoo, Teagan found time to lunch like a rock star and try on some shoes.




And on a sour note, we had Maura's allergies tested last week. The bad news is that she's still highly allergic to dairy. They'll test her again around the time she hits puberty. (So much for the statistics that show 50% of kids grow out of dairy allergies by age 3 and 80% grow out of them by age 5.) Poor girl. However, the slightly happier news is that she is not officially allergic to wheat. Because her blood reaction levels were not very high, she's only got a sensitivity. And, we've also found that she can tolerate it on rare occasions. As long as she doesn't have wheat more that once a week, her head doesn't spin around when she DOES have it. We're still working through that one.
